Prachyanat’s 'Raja Ebong Onnanno' was last staged on August 23, 2015
After a three year hiatus, Prachyanat’s production, “Raja Ebong Onnanno,” is going to be staged on August 9-10 at the Experimental Theatre of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The play is authored by Rabindranath Tagore and is scheduled to begin at 7pm on both days.
The plot follows the character Sudorshona’s fate. She is known to be intelligent and resolves to use her wits to achieve success in life. Her partner is Surongoma, who suggests that when God comes into your heart, it is the most ideal time to get attached to him, or else deceivers are worshiped as kings. Sudorshona does not agree and falls in love with Suborno. Going forward, the plot follows Sudorshona’s roller-coaster fate of being deceived, exiled from the palace, and eventually coming face to face with her king.
The play will be directed by Azad Abul Kalam. Set design and lighting was done by Saiful Islam, and costumes are done by Toufqiul Islam Imon. Kartik directed the music and Snata Shah Rin is the choreographer.
