Nora Fatehi challenges fans to dance in ‘the most random places’

Morrocan-Canadian dancer and actor Nora Fatehi posted a video of herself dancing to the song “Kamariya” and urged her fans to take up the #KamariyaHilaDeChallenge.

The challenge is to record yourself dancing in “the most random places” to the song “Kamariya”. The Instagram video showed Fatehi dancing on the road while vehicles pass by followed by her dancing in a cafe while spilling her drink.

Fatehi said in her Instagram video: “Wherever you are, record yourself shaking your ‘Kamariya’ in the most random places. Let’s see what you got.”

The song in question is from the upcoming Indian film “Stree.” Fatehi is presumably trying to get the  challenge to trend as part of the film’s promotional campaign.

Challenges like this could be highly dangerous. A man named Jaylen Norwood from Florida, US, got run over by a car while doing the #InMyFeelings challenge. He posted the video on his Instagram account on July 26.

In a separate incident, the Gulf Emirate of Abu Dhabi ordered the arrest of three  unnamed "famous" social media users for taking part in the viral dance challenge based on hip-hop superstar Drake's hit song "In my feelings", according to AFP.

The detainees will be investigated "on charges of endangering their lives and the lives of others, and violating public morals using social networking sites to promote practices that are incompatible with the values and traditions of society," according to a statement released on July 23 by the public prosecutor's office.
