The film, written and directed by film-maker Sadat Hossain, will feature nine of Asif Akbar’s tracks
Popular Bangladeshi musician Asif Akbar is starring in a feature-length musical film titled “Gohiner Gaan”—which is already in production. Bangladhol Ltd, the production company behind the project, claims that this feature -length musical film will be first of its kind in Bangladesh. The film, written and directed by film-maker Sadat Hossain, will feature nine of Asif Akbar’s tracks.
The first phase of the film has been shot at Mamata Palli in Ashulia, Dhaka. Model and actor Tanzika Amin starred alongside Asif in the first shooting phase. Bangladhol Ltd said in a statement that they will publish the full list of other heroines, including industry A-listers, who will feature in the film, right after Eid-ul-Adha.
Asif recently stated: “This is the first feature-length musical film in Bangladesh and I consider myself very lucky to star in it. The whole unit is working really hard to give the audience something new. Hopefully the audience will find a new Asif through this film.”
Moreover, Tanzika recently shared her experience of working alongside Asif in a press release: “He was very co-operative. The audience will discover the singer as a hero, for the first time, and it will be unique experience for them.”
Asif sang nine tracks for the film. They are written by Tarun Munshi, Razib Ahmed and Pallab Sanyal and the screenplay is being written with the tracks in mind.
Previously, Asif was arrested and jailed in a music piracy case, filed by contemporary lyricist, composer, and singer Shafiq Tuhin, under the Information and Communication Technology Act.
Asif was detained from his studio in BFDC area in Dhaka on June 6 and received bail on June 11.
