Prince Bazar quickly removed the post and apologized for their error
Prince Bazar Ltd, a superstore based in Dhaka, recently posted on Facebooka a sale on beef as part of their “Sharodiya offer,” a promotional campaign to celebrate Durga Puja.
The mistake sparked outrage and ridicule among Facebook users, especially and understandably in the Hindu community.
The post was quickly removed, and the company presented an apology for their mistake in a Facebook post.
“We didn’t have any intention to hurt someone’s religious feelings,” the apology reads.
The company stated that “different parties” were involved in the promotion, and somewhere along the line “the mistake was made by some party.”
They did not specify who the aforementioned party is, but assured their customers that measures have been taken to ensure gaffes such as this never happens again.
In Hinduism, cows are considered to be sacred animals.
