Tips from the Plant Doctors

Indoor plants are a joy to behold and nothing breathes life into the concrete urban life like greeneries within the monotonous walls of building.

Green Savers has vowed to encourage people to set up rooftop gardens and indoor decoration with suitable indoor plants to combat environmental challenges. The initiative provides setting up services for gardens and maintenance work.

“Interested people just need to tell us their preferences; Green Savers’ Plant Doctor team will assist them with everything needed for indoor gardening. Other than paying the cost they don’t have to worry about anything else,” Ahsan Rony, founder, and president of the organization said.

Here’s five basic tips for indoor plants from Green Savers’ The Plant Doctor

  • No plant can survive without having any contact of light and air. However, indoor plants can survive with a smaller amount of those elements.  Thus, select the placement of indoor plants by keeping in mind some measures, such as the east and west side of the house are good places to place them. Moreover, these plants should be kept away from places like behind or in front of curtains, as well as from electronic home appliances like fridge, AC, etc, that generate hot or cooling air.

  •  Watering routinely while maintaining precise amount of it for plant is essential. Depending on the nature of the plant, the amount varies. Too much watering can be dangerous as stagnated water causes fester of the root which can lead into the plant’s death. Alternatively absence of required amount of water makes them fragile. One simple way of measuring the correct amount is there should be no water left around the plant after 10 minutes of watering.

  •  Indoor plants are sensitive. Keeping the plants dust and germ free by cleaning them every two or three days helps them flourish.

  • Watering and cleaning can not compensate for appropriate nutrients in adequate amount. It’s important to have a working knowledge of what kinds of compost to use.

  •  Timely pruning and trimming not only make them look tidy, but with correct pruning can help plants to grow into the right size and maintain structure, mitigating the risk of broken and falling branches.
