To celebrate its 10th anniversary of contributing to animal welfare and the Animal Welfare Act 2019, Obhoyaronno - Bangladesh Animal Welfare Foundation, hosted “Puppyville II” for all the animal lovers in the city. As an homage to the hurdles, Obhoyaronno has overcome in breaking age-old inhumane practices and taboos for those who need them as their voice - the innocent dogs and cats of Dhaka who also call this city their home. Approaching 2020, they are moving closer to a country where dogs are not mistreated, abused and killed in the streets, and a country abiding by the new Animal Welfare laws, which Obhoyaronno helped pass during this year. With the goal that Animal welfare is a collective effort, Obhoyaronno still has a long way to go.
Mayor Atiqul Islam attended the event, who doesn’t only support the cause, but also went on to share his vision of expanding the works of Obhoyaronno in a new and much larger premises. He then surprised everyone by performing a live song for the guests to further encourage them to be a part of this moral cause.
The entire event was aimed to connect animal lovers. Over 450 guests and their four legged friends from different spheres of the society were present at the event. The artists who performed at the event and entertained all the guests with soulful music included Headline, Indalo, Elita Karim, Armeen Musa, among others.
Retailers like Bangu Vegan, Manas, 6 Yards Story, Biskut Factory, Face Painting, Katabatic Wind, Newton’s Archive, Pitha Bar, Pretty Shitty Art, Romalicious, Second Hand Love, Tanmoy Cartoons, and Wearhouse all participated in the event with their stalls and amazing products.
The event concluded with a thank you note by the founder of Obhoyaronno, Rubaiya Ahmad, and the vision that animal welfare is a collective effort and Obhoyaronno still has a long way to go.
