A few years back, Haruki Murakami came to Dhaka. A few students were selected from different schools and colleges for showing him around the city. And I was one of them. So the very first day of my duty, he saw people selling ঝালমুড়ি on the road. He asked me what that was. I said it's ঝালমুড়ি, would you like to taste some? He agreed. I bought him some ঝালমুড়ি. But he ended up REALLY loving it. In fact he loved it so much that he kept asking for them again and again. You could say he became Haruki মুড়ি-কামী। 🤭

Is this for real? Is this really happening?

S—Samantha, yes. Samantha was standing there. God I hadn’t seen her since like eighth grade. She still had that audacious fringe.

Ahh. There was that wet sock, Jack. He was here with his girlfriend. It was a different girl from last week.

I had always loved people watching and I don’t think I’d get a better opportunity than this.

But my eyes looked for Tony. I wandered around searching for him.

My parents were nowhere to be seen either. It was probably the biggest day of my life till date, where were they?

My childhood best friend Sarah stood leaning against the wall we had painted when we were 10. Even being in the army hadn’t tainted her bubbly soul but she was unusually quiet today.

Then I heard it. It was a quiet muffled cry at first and then he straight up started bawling.

I looked back to see Tony and my parents come out of my room, where they probably rejoiced at how less of an effort it took.

Tony was still bawling when he helped my dad, brother and uncle pick the coffin up.

I took a long last look of the door I had walked out of 3 years ago.

I had zero regrets then, I have zero regrets now. I could’ve done anything to get out of here, and playing along to their plan to murder me had seemed like the easiest.

“Look bubu what Baba got me. It’s CR7’s Real Madrid jersey. He loves me the most”, chuckled my younger brother.

Not today shaitan as i think to myself and laugh at him for not being aware of Ronaldo’s switch to Juventus earlier that day.
