APON Foundation distributed food boxes at the Airport Railway Station in Dhaka last week among 70 street children and homeless people who have been severely affected by Covid-19 pandemic, a press release from the organization said.
Executives from APON briefed the children about the importance of maintaining social distancing and using masks. Officers of railway police, executives and volunteers of APON were present at the event.
APON Foundation is a government approved NGO working for the welfare of underprivileged children in Bangladesh, with a particular focus on street children. The NGO is currently operating 15 learning centres, where it teaches more than 400 children from various slums in the Dhaka city, and operating a shelter for street-connected children at Kawlar, Dhaka.
APON Foundation is also currently working for cyclone Amphan affected people and the Covid-19 impacted since the outbreak began.
