Marjia Mimi, a bright young influencer, discusses her rapid rise to the spotlight
Influencers in the social media are individuals who have built their reputation for their insight and ability on a particular theme or have an impact in the general public to assist individuals with the latest news. They make posts about that point on their favoured online channels, produce enormous followings, and draw in individuals who give close consideration to their perspectives.
Nowadays, brands love social media influencers since they can create hype and urge their followers to purchase items they promote. In recent times, social media marketing and influencers have an indispensable impact on promoting a brand or to spread awareness.
And it's the same in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi brands are utilizing influencers to elevate their image and to expand their sales. Marjia Mimi has made her place in a very short time in this industry, as a well-known influencer.
Mimi started her journey as an influencer in 2017. Since then, she has 230K subscribers on YouTube till now, 200K followers on Facebook, 60K followers on Instagram and and she also have 7 million followers on Likee. Before introducing herself as in influencer, she has worked in a few television dramas and documentaries. But as she is still a student, she sometimes finds it difficult to balance her work and studies at the same time.
“I always had this interest in the media, but the pressure of my studies did not allow me to do that, so I decided to do something similar to that. And being a social media influencer and showing people my work seemed to be the only way back then. And that is how my journey began,” she said.
Even then, she was not sure where she was going with this. All she knew was that she had to make something where she could show her talent through videos and create her content. “Freedom of work in this sector is something I enjoy the most,” said Mimi. It’s not always that you can work the way you want and earn money through it but by being an influencer, Mimi can work in her flow and earn through it. Also, according to Mimi, in the creative sector, there is a scope to improve and try different things – and that is what motivates her the most.
Even though time has changed a lot and there are a lot of female YouTubers shining through, but still somewhere in our society people try to drag them down. “Being a girl I get a lot of hate comments and disrespectful opinion in my comment section. It’s not that it does not bother me but in all these years I have learned that people will talk and try to stop you but, you have to keep on working and maintain your sanity among all these. “Because at one point, people will remember you for your good work and success,” said Mimi.
Mimi not only promotes brands through her content, but tries to spread social awareness regarding different topics. “Even though I am a Law student, creating content holds a special place in my life,” said Mimi. Maybe in the future, she will pursue her career as a lawyer but creating content for her viewers is something that she can never leave. Creating content is her passion, and wherever she goes she wants to carry it with her. “No matter how busy I become in life for my work, I will always have time for my viewers who made me what I am today,” said Mimi.
