Samsung’s AirDresser takes a load off your laundry issues
Samsung recently introduced the all-new AirDresser, which promises to lay out a new and more efficient method of taking care of your clothes. From steam cleaning to deodorizing your outfits, the AirDresser has quite a few nifty features such as combining powerful steam and air to relax light wrinkles and keep your clothes fresh. It is quite easy to go wrong with a product especially for any first-gen electronic devices, but Samsung seems to have ticked all the right boxes with this one. But of course, there are lots of space for upgrades and improvement.
The AirDresser was initially launched internationally earlier this year but hit the Bangladesh market on September 3. According to Samsung, the customer response was more than satisfactory—with a significant portion of their first batch of imports already pre-booked.
Benefits
Samsung couldn’t have chosen a better time to launch this product. With the Covid-19 pandemic still ongoing, the need for sanitizing our clothes are often overlooked. Giving it to wash after wearing an outfit once not only damages the clothes but is also a daunting task for anyone. With the AirDresser’s Sanitize Cycle, high-temperature steam penetrates and help sanitize clothes.
The fact that the equipment does not need any source of water (like needed for a washing machine), it can be placed anywhere inside the house without any plumbing hassles. But it needs to be connected to a power outlet in order to function. No chemicals or any detergent are needed to clean the garments, also reducing dependency on dry cleaning and washing delicate pieces of garments, which can at times be very tricky business.
The AirDresser can remove dust particles and odours from a wide range of clothes, from suits, leather jackets, fur, sarees to school uniforms and heavy-duty items. In the long run, this can actually be more cost-effective than having to pay dry-cleaning bills.
It operates with hardly any noise and does not vibrate when switched on.
While all its features might sound enticing the AirDresser isn’t for everyone. The single variant product is priced at Tk 1,49,500. With their eye on the premium market, the price tag excludes the majority of households from a hope of owning one. However, they are offering ‘Cashback’ offers from time to time. So, if you have your heart set on this item, I’d recommend to keep an eye out for offers such as this.
Design
For any high-end equipment, aesthetics do play a very important role especially when it’s a product for your home or office. The front comes with a mirror finish, which was a smart thing to do, as this enables the AirDresser to not stand out too much and also to go with any kind of furnishing the household might have. The two sides have a robust metal finishing, suggesting that the equipment is meant to be slid in into a corner. Comparing this to LG’s Styler; which does look like a refrigerator in some sense, Samsung’s AirDresser looks more hi-tech yet subtle and goes well with any interior. The product is currently only available in black.
Specs
The AirDresser comes with three Air Hangers, through which the air flows right into the clothes. Three is a decent capacity for a single user, but four would be more logical as it is more and more common to have two working adults in a household.
It is also equipped with a Deodorizing Filter, helping remove any bad odour from clothes. Particularly important for a warm and humid climate as ours.
The Heat Pump Drying feature enables warm air to blow through the vents and help dry the clothes. However, it is not meant for heavily damp pieces of garments but works great for small spills if that is to happen. Perspiration can leave stains on clothes if left for a significant period; this feature helps take care of that since frequently washing certain delicate fabrics isn’t possible—also making sure the low heat does not damage the clothes.
The best feature to me was the Wrinkle Care. As mentioned above, the AirDresser is equipped to take care of light wrinkles. This works amazing with suits and shirts, which are usually very prone to getting wrinkled. It also comes with Weight Kits, to help keep the clothes nice and straight while steaming.
Like most Samsung equipment, all these features too can be controlled by your smartphone, as long as the AirDresser has access to Wi-Fi connectivity. But getting everything synced the first time is time-consuming and a bit of a hassle.
The power cables are already built-in, so it’s a matter of plug and play. There were concerns about electricity consumption, but Samsung’s inverter technology helped make it very efficient, promising to not put a dent in the environment and your wallet.
Overall, the Samsung AirDresser is very highly rated, with excellent build quality. If the price is not an issue, this is sure to make your life easier.
