A specialized laboratory will be set up at each university of the country aiming to increase research and innovative activities to address the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution, said the University Grants Commission (UGC).
UGC took the initiative to implement the government's decision of increasing research and innovative activities, said a press release on Thursday.
Aiming to make a plan and determine the steps to implement the initiative, a virtual meeting was held on Thursday, chaired by the convenor of the nine-member implementation committee, Dr Md Sazzad Hossain.

Dr Sazzad said that timely plans will be adopted and implemented in the field of higher education.
UGC will take necessary steps to implement the decisions of the Cabinet Division, he added.
Commission member Prof Biswajit Chand, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Vice-Chancellor Prof Satya Prasad Majumder, BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Prof Vincent Chang, UGC Secretary (Additional Charge) Dr Ferdous Zaman were present in the meeting.
