
The incumbent Awami League government has embarked on a series of initiatives to promote technology in Bangladesh. Over the past four years, a number of new developments have seen the light of day. As the New Year rolls on, 2018 looks to provide even more additions to the burgeoning ICT sector.
The Information & Communication Technology Division has listed a number of ongoing projects to further develop the ICT sector.
In addition, the government has the following projects lined up to be delivered: Technology Lab & Software Finishing School, Modernization of Rural & Urban Lives, Smart City Integrated e-Government, VLSI lab at universities, National Security Centre & Forensic Lab, IT Park for employment, Digital Connectivity, National Cyber Security Agency, Virtual University of Multimedia & Innovation.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak told the Bangla Tribune the government is relentlessly working to realize Vision 2021 in order to eradicate poverty within 2030 and make Bangladesh a developed country within 2041.
He said the ICT sector has a crucial role to play in the overall development in the country, and its active and realized projects are a testament to it.
“I believe that as we advance more and more, Bangladesh will move away from a labour-based economy to a knowledge-based economy”
