Dengue: 203 more hospitalized in Bangladesh in 24 hours

The mosquito-borne disease has claimed 73 lives this year so far

As many as 203 new dengue patients were hospitalized across the country in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

Of them, 170 were undergoing treatment in Dhaka while the remaining 33 cases were reported from outside the division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A total of 863 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals and clinics across the country.

Of them, 720 patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals in the capital while the remaining 143 were listed outside Dhaka, the release added.

A total of 19,336 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across the country since January this year. Of them, 18,400 have returned home after recovery, the DGHS said.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has confirmed 73 deaths from dengue fever this year, the DGHS added.
