The Chinese government wants to have a video conference with the Bangladeshi government to discuss ways to fight the coronavirus
Communist Party of China (CPC) will hand over 50,000 masks to the ruling party of Bangladesh, Awami League (AL).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s special assistant and Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday afternoon.
“The Chinese embassy has already contacted us and asked for the schedule of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to hand over the gifts,” he said.
“Moreover, the Chinese government also wants to have a video conference with us where political leaders, people’s representatives and doctors of China will be present, especially those with an experience of fighting the coronavirus,” Biplab added.
As of Wednesday, Bangladesh has reported 120 deaths and 3,772 cases of Covid-19.
The fast spreading coronavirus, which was first reported in China's Wuhan, has claimed more than 177,680 lives and infected more than 2,557,910 people globally, according to Worldometers.
As many as 695,325 people have recovered from Covid-19, which has spread to 210 countries and territories across the planet.
