One more firefighter has tested positive for Covid-19. With this, the number of positive cases among the firefighters has increased to 10.
“He might have been infected after getting in contact with the other positive colleagues at Sadarghat fire station,” said Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director (Media) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The newly infected person is a Fire Leader (team leader), the official said, adding that the victim has been living in the staff quarter at Sadarghat fire station premises.
“He is attached to the Deputy Director’s office at the headquarters,” said Shahjahan.
The first case was reported on April 27 at the same fire station.
As of April 30, a total of eight officials at the same station were found to be coronavirus positive.
Of the eight, seven are firemen, while the other is an officer.
Later, on May 3, one more from Postogola Fire Station also tested Covid-19 positive.
The authorities have already locked down the Sadarghat fire service station.
