Coronavirus: TK Group distributes PPEs in Chittagong hospitals

They have also promised to provide 20 ventilators to the hospitals

In a bid to strengthen the fight against Covid-19, TK Group has distributed 700 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for doctors in Chittagong General Hospital and Holy Crescent Corona Specialized Hospital.

The business group also declared to provide these hospitals with 20 ventilators, one of the most scarce and important medical equipment necessary to treat Covid-19 patients, said a press statement issued on Wednesday.

“We took this initiative from the sense of our social responsibility amid the Covid-19 pandemic,” TK Group Managing Director Mohammad Abul Kalam said. 

While handing over the PPEs to the hospital authorities, Ashraful Hussain, brand manager of TK Group, said: “The import process of 20 ventilators is in progress, which will be distributed between these two hospitals. 

“We are hopeful to hand them over by mid of June.”

As of Wednesday, Bangladesh confirmed 11,719 coronavirus cases with the death toll rising to 186 after three new fatalities were reported.

Till now, the fast spreading, highly contagious disease has claimed more than 259,000 lives and infected more than 3,757,000 people globally, according to Worldometer.

As many as 1,258,552 people have recovered from Covid-19 across the world.
