A 22-year-old youth--who was tested positive for coronavirus-- has been assaulted and evicted by his landlord in Rupganj upazila, Narayanganj.

The patient, Nazmul Hossain, 22, was evicted from his rented house on Rupshi's Bagbari area around 11pm on Wednesday by his landlord Nur Hossain, sources said.

Later, the UNO and police sent him to his mother's house intending to admit him to the upazila health complex on Thursday, confirmed Rupganj Police OC Mahmudul Hasan.

Nazmul was suffering from coronavirus like symptoms and when we sent his samples to a hospital he was tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, said the patient's uncle Siraj Miah.

"Knowing about his infection, the landlord and his associates beaten him up and forcefully evicted him from the house,"

"We repeatedly requested them to take him in just for the night but they did not pay hid to us," added Siraj.

Quoting the UNO Mamtaj Begum, Rupganj Police OC Mahmudul Hasan said: "We sent police to rescue him as soon as we heard the incident. We are looking into the matter. "
