Coronavirus: 12 more policemen recovers

1,943 police members have been infected so far, 909 are from DMP

In the fight against coronavirus, policemen are being infected in the frontlines, and many are recovering through treatment.

Following this, 12 more infected policemen have won the battle against the coronavirus. They recovered and left Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on Thursday.

The hospital authorities gave farewell to the recovered policemen with roses.

Police Headquarters issued a press release in this regard on Thursday.

According to the Police HQ, till May 14, so far 1,943 police members were infected. Among them, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been infected the most with 909 members.

In addition, the deadly virus has taken the lives of seven police members. A total of 3,091 police personnel are at home and institutional quarantine, and 1,152 members are in isolation. Meanwhile, 298 members have recovered from the Covid-19 till now.

Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has instructed all concerned to ensure the highest treatment for the coronavirus infected police members. As per the instructions of the IGP, a “Special Team” has been formed to look after the Covid-19 positive policemen, the press release said.

In addition to the Central Police Hospital and the Divisional Police Hospital, arrangements have been made for the treatment of Covid-19-affected police personnel in Dhaka and in the divisions with state-of-the-art private hospitals. As a result of these initiatives, the affected policemen are recovering fast, it added.
