Covid-19: 127 journalists infected so far in Bangladesh

Of them, 113 are based in Dhaka

At least 127 journalists have so far tested positive for Covid-19 in Bangladesh, and death of only one of them has been confirmed.

Of them, 113 are from Dhaka and 14 from other areas of the country.

Some 28 journalists have made full recovery too, said Ahammad Foyez‎, admin of social media-based journalist group "Our media, our rights," on Sunday afternoon.

Two other journalists also recently died exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms. One of them later tested negative for Covid-19, while whether the other was infected is yet to be confirmed.

The 127 infected journalists were from 53 national and regional media houses, including 23 newspapers, 20 television channels, six news portals, three radio channels and one news agency.

Private television channel NTV has the highest number of infections with 18 people, including three reporters.

Seventeen of the total infected work in Ittefaq, eight in Shomoyer Alo, seven in Independent TV, six each in Ekattar TV, Somoy TV and Deepto TV, four in RTV, three each in Daily Amader Notun Shomoy and daily Janata, two each in Ekushey TV, Jamuna TV, Daily Prothom Alo, Daily Alokito Bangladesh, Daily Sun and SA TV.

The rest are from Dhaka Tribune, Daily Star, Channel24, ATN News, Bangladesher Khobor, Daily Songram, Daily Sitalakkha of Narayanganj, Daily Bhorer Kagoj, Daily Ajkal, B-Barta, Inqilab, Kaler Kantho, Daily Amar Barta, Daily Loksomaj of Jessore, Daily Protidiner Songbad, Daily Manabzamin, Daily Jayjaydin, Daily Desh Rupantor, Maasranga TV, Channel I, Banglavision TV, IP TV Notun Shomoy, Desh TV, BTV, DBC News, ATN Bangla, Radio Amar, Radio Today, Purboposhchimbd, Bangla Tribune, UNB, Barta24. Asian TV, Cvoice24.com of Chittagong, Daily New Nation, and Radio Dhoni.

The total number of Covid-19 patients in Bangladesh climbed to 22,268 on Sunday afternoon, while the health authorities recorded 14 more deaths, taking the death toll to 328.
