117 govt primary school teachers Covid-19 positive, 1 dead

In total, 145 teachers, students, employees and other officials around the country have tested Covid-19 positive so far

A total of 117 government primary school teachers have so far tested positive for Covid-19 across Bangladesh and one of them has died.

The Department of Primary Education (DPE) disclosed the data through live updates on its website on Wednesday.

Moreover, a total of seven students, 13 employees, and eight officials of different government primary schools were also found infected with the deadly virus.

With the latest developments, the total number of Covid-19 cases including the teachers, students, employees, and other officials stood at 145 on Wednesday.

Of the total, 51 were from Dhaka and Chittagong, 14 from Sylhet, eight from Barisal, six each from Mymensingh and Rangpur, five from Rajshahi, and four from Khulna.

While one teacher died, as many as 27 out of 145 recovered.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 tested positive and two recovered.

From June 1, the DPE started collecting detailed information regarding officials, employees, teachers and students of all government primary schools who tested Covid-19 positive.

Until Wednesday afternoon, Bangladesh confirmed 74,865 Covid-19 cases and 1,012 deaths.

Till now, the fast-spreading virus has infected more than 7.3 million people and claimed over 416,100 lives globally, according to worldometer.
