The body of a man who tested positive for Covid-19 and escaped the Mugdha 500 bedded General Hospital on Friday night has been found at the Adabar area of Dhaka on Saturday morning.
Abdul Mannan, 41, was found hanging from a jack fruit try by police near the Hossain Housing apartment building. The body was sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Adabar Police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Momin said Mannan had been admitted to Mugdha 500 bedded General Hospital on June 15. Two days later, his test for Covid-19 came back positive.
He fled the hospital while under treatment around 10pm on Friday.
Mannan was a building manager of Hossain Housing. His wife and son are in isolation.
Mannan’s brother-in-law Musa Azadi said: “He spoke to my elder sister by phone on Friday night and he seemed troubled.”
