Four districts of the country are yet to report any deaths resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.

As of the evening of June 23, no one had died of coronavirus in Joypurhat, Chapainawabganj, Kurigram, and Satkhira districts. The recovery rate in these districts is also good compared to that in other districts, reports Bangla Tribune.

The civil surgeons of these four districts shared their experiences on how to treat the affected patients safely, which may be an example for other districts.

They cited hygiene, strict lockdown, quick identification of people from outlying districts to ensure quarantine, and regular care of infected patients to avoid deaths. They also said that all that was possible due to cooperation from the local police administration and peoples’ representatives.

Joypurhat

In Joypurhat district, 255 people have been infected with coronavirus till the evening of June 23, out of who 162 have recovered. The condition of any infected patient there has never reached an alarming stage. Of the victims, only 220 have been hospitalized.

The District Civil Surgeon Md. Selim Mia said that the patients recovered quickly as care and good food were provided to keep their morale strong.

Chapainawabganj

In Chapainawabganj, 88 people have been infected with coronavirus thus far. Of these, 57 have recovered and the condition of the rest are relatively good. No casualties have been reported.

The District Civil Surgeon Zahid Nazrul Chowdhury said on Tuesday: "We have ensured 100% quarantine from the very beginning with the administration and citizens of the area. Five and a half thousand people have undergone medical checkups in two months. We have quarantined the returnees from Italy and China. And 90% of those that did get affected were connected to Gazipur, Dhaka, and Narayanganj.”

Kurigram

So far, 123 people have been infected in Kurigram, out of which 6 have recovered. The rate of infection is slow in the district and no one has yet been killed by the virus.

District Civil Surgeon Md. Habibur Rahman said: "We are in the green zone as a district. However, we are not satisfied with that because the infection has spread to some of our upazilas and unions, which we will declare as red zones. We have tried hard to maintain lockdown since the beginning and tested suspects as quickly as possible. We have created awareness and it has paid off, but more needs to be done.”

Satkhira

As of the evening of June 23, 104 people had been infected with coronavirus in the district, of whom 18 had recovered and none had died. The district is officially in the green zone.

District Civil Surgeon Md. Hussein Safayet said: "We have imposed strict lockdown from the beginning. Before Eid, our infection rate was small. But the influx of people from Dhaka and Narayanganj during the Eid holidays has increased the rate of infection.”

In the entirety of Bangladesh, coronavirus has so far infected 119,198 people and killed 1,545 people.
