Dataful, the first Bangladeshi data-based content portal, has created a data visual on deaths with Covid-19 symptoms in the country.

The visual titled “Covid-19: Mapping the Numbers in Bangladesh” was launched in a virtual event on Friday and showed a comprehensive picture of the deaths with coronavirus symptoms in the 64 districts of the country.

According to the data visualization project, a total of 1,936 people have died with Covid-19 symptoms in Bangladesh as of Friday.

Comilla, Chandpur, Satkhira, Chittagong, and Khulna are the top five districts to record the highest number of deaths with Covid-19 symptoms.

While launching the project, former Dhaka University (DU) vice chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, said data is currently the most useful thing in the world.

“Accurate information will help commoners and the policymakers to make informed decisions about Covid-19,” he added.

Virologist Prof Dr Md Nazrul Islam said Bangladesh probably passed the Covid-19 peak from May 31 to August 20.

He also said that journalists should be very careful while running stories on deaths with Covid-19 symptoms.

Journalist Gazi Nasiruddin Ahmed said a guideline is needed for the journalist on how to cover news during a pandemic.
