Hanif is serving as joint general secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League for a fourth consecutive term
Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has tested positive for Covid-19.
He confirmed the matter while speaking to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.
Hanif had been suffering from fever for a few days prior to the confirmation of his infection.
“I had been suffering from fever for two days. On Wednesday morning, I went to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU), where test results came back positive,” he said.

The Kushtia-3 constituency lawmaker is currently in isolation at home. His physical condition is stable.
Hanif is serving as joint general secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League for a fourth consecutive term. He has previously been special assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Since the start of the pandemic in March, many lawmakers and government officials of Bangladesh have been diagnosed with Covid-19.
So far, the virus has infected 425,353 people and led to the death of 6,127 people across the country.
