Health Minister: No side effects of vaccine recorded yet

Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said no side effects of the Covid-19 vaccine has been recorded among recipients who were administered doses during the trial run that began on Wednesday. 

“All of the vaccine recipients are in a good and healthy state. I haven’t heard of any side effects among the recipients till now,” he said while speaking to the media after inspecting the vaccination program at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Thursday.

He also said that people have created a festive environment at the centres and were willingly taking the vaccine against the deadly virus.

The minister also added that already many well-known and important persons in the country have taken their doses and many are in line for their turn.

He also asked all to take the vaccine without any hesitation.

Later, he also inspected the vaccine centre at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Earlier in the morning, the government began its vaccination program for Covid-19 on trial at five government hospitals across Dhaka city.

The hospitals are Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Kurmitola General Hospital, Mugda General Hospital, Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital and BSMMU.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the vaccine campaign at Kurmitola General Hospital virtually from Ganabhaban.
