Covid-19: 22 new deaths at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in 24 hours

Twenty-two more people have died while getting treatment at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours to 8am Thursday.

Seven of the deceased had tested positive for Covid-19, and 15 had Covid-like symptoms, said RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani. Of them, 10 were from Rajshahi, six from Natore, four from Pabna and two from Naogaon.

Nine of the newly deceased were women, while 13 were men. Of them, 13 were aged above 61 years, one between 51 and 60 years, three between 41 and 50, two between 31 and 40, two between 21 and 30, and one between 11 and 20 years.

During the same period of time, 31 more patients were admitted to the Covid-19 unit of the RMCH. As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 434 patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital’s Covid unit. Of them, 210 patients have tested positive.

Twenty patients are admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.

RMCH Director Yazdani said over 60% of the new Covid-19 patients coming into the hospital were from villages, reiterating that awareness among the villagers was less compared to the urban population.
