The consignment is part of 2.9 million vaccine doses committed by Japan
Some 245,200 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from Japan on Saturday.
The vaccines are coming under the Covax scheme.
The All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight carrying the vaccines left the Narita Airport in Tokyo at 2220 hrs (Japan Standard Time), the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry said on Friday night.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed, Deputy Chief of Mission Shah Asif Rahman and First Secretary Tushita Chakma were present at the airport.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen will receive the consignment at the Dhaka airport.
Japan will send over 2.9 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh in phases.
Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said that 15 countries in the region would be provided with 11 million doses of the vaccine under the Covax facility.
