No ICU beds vacant at the hospitals dedicated to Covid-19 patients
Eight districts under Rangpur Division recorded 10 more deaths from Covid-19 and 159 new cases in the 24 hours between Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Divisional health director Dr Motaharul Islam on Saturday confirmed that four of the deaths occurred in the Rangpur district, two each in Thakurgaon and Dinajpur, and one each in Gaibandha and Nilphamari.
In the last 37 days, the division saw 567 deaths from Covid-19.
So far, the division’s eight districts have recorded 87,678 Covid-19 cases and 37,423 of them have recovered.
The rate of positive cases, however, has declined slightly and now stands at 18.84%, said Dr Islam.
Meanwhile, the Intensive Care Units at the hospitals dedicated to Covid-19 patients in Rangpur and Dinajpur have no vacant beds.
Health officials said the Covid-19 situation is worsening mostly in Dinajpur, Rangpur, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram -- all frontier districts -- as people were not wearing masks and flouting the health safety rules.
