The division’s caseload reaches 48,351
Ten more patients died of Covid-19 in Rangpur Division in the last 24 hours ending at 8am Sunday, raising the division’s total number of fatalities to 1,024.
“The Covid-19 situation is showing a mostly steady trend during the last few days in the division,” said Dr ZA Siddiqui, the division’s focal person for Covid-19 and the assistant director for health.
The 10 new casualties were reported from the division’s Rangpur, Kurigram, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Dinajpur districts.
The district-wise break up of the 1,024 fatalities current stands at 232 in Rangpur, 64 in Panchagarh, 72 in Nilphamari, 57 in Lalmonirhat, 57 in Kurigram, 197 in Thakurgaon, 293 in Dinajpur, and 52 in Gaibandha.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.12% in the division,” Dr Siddiqui said.
Meanwhile, the division’s Covid-19 caseload reached 48,351 as 673 new patients were recorded after testing of 2,749 samples, with a positivity rate of 24.48% on Saturday.
The district-wise break up of 48,351 patients currently stands at 10,949 in Rangpur, 3,063 in Panchagarh, 3,935 in Nilphamari, 2,417 in Lalmonirhat, 3,995 in Kurigram, 6,505 in Thakurgaon, 13,330 in Dinajpur and 4,157 in Gaibandha of the division, said Dr Siddiqui.
Dr Md Motaharul Islam, the divisional health director, said a total of 229,667 collected samples were tested till Saturday, and of them, 48,351 were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 21.05% in the division.

Among the 48,351 patients, 530 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 24 critical patients at ICU beds and 11 at High Dependency Unit beds, while 9,361 are in home isolation.
Dr Islam added that no bed in the Covid-19-dedicated hospitals in Rangpur and Dinajpur were vacant.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered Covid-19 patients reached 37,660 with the recovery of 237 more on Saturday in the division. The average recovery rate currently stands at 77.89.
The number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the division rose to 1,354,966 and among them, 398,412 have received both jabs till Saturday, Dr Islam added.
