Latest shipment would take total number of vaccines Japan sent to Bangladesh through Covax to over three million
The fifth batch of 634,920 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from Japan is set to arrive in Dhaka Saturday.
The vaccines are scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a flight of Cathay Pacific.
A flight of All Nippon Airways left Japan with the doses on Friday.
With this shipment, the total number of vaccines delivered to Bangladesh from Japan under the Covax facility would top three million.
The delivery of the doses reflects the commitment of the Japanese government, said the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed was present at Narita International Airport when the vaccines were dispatched.
Commercial Counsellor Dr Ariful Haque and First Secretary (Press) Md Shiplu Zaman were also in attendance.
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo deeply appreciated the continued support and assistance of the Japanese government in helping Bangladesh tackle the challenges of Covid-19.
Bangladesh is set to receive 1 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the US on August 30.
