445 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the last 24-hours till Friday morning
Eighteen more Covid-19 deaths have been reported from Barisal, Rajshahi and Mymensingh in the last 24-hours till Friday morning.
Barisal Divisional Health Director Dr Basudev Kumar Das confirmed eight deaths while spokespersons of Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) and Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) confirmed the other 10 deaths.
Among the eight deceased in Barisal, five were confirmed Covid-19 patients and the other were showing symptoms of the deadly disease, said Dr Basudeb Kumar Das.
Between Thursday and Friday mornings, 142 new Covid-19 cases were also recorded in the six districts under the division, he added.
Dr Das said of the five latest deceased, two each were from Barisal and Bhola and another from Patuakhali.
Meanwhile, the other three who were showing symptoms of Covid-19 passed away in the isolation ward of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH).
MMCH records 6 deaths
Among the six deceased at the Covid-19 unit of MMCH, three tested positive for the virus while the rest had symptoms, said Dr Mohiuddin Khan Moon, a spokesperson of the hospital.
Meanwhile, 176 patients are still undergoing treatment in the hospital, of whom 15 are in the intensive care unit, said the officials.
The district's Civil Surgeon Mohammad Nazrul Islam said 486 samples were tested at the hospital’s PCR lab in the last 24 hours and 56 new cases were recorded, which took the total number of infections to 20,721.
So far, 17,904 people have recovered from Covid-19 in the division.
RMCH records 4 deaths
Among the four deceased at the Covid-19 unit of RMCH, two tested positives for Covid-19 while the remaining two had symptoms of the virus, said RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shamim Yazdani.
Of the deceased, two were from Rajshahi, one each from Chapainawabganj and Kushtia, he added.
Thirty more patients were admitted to the designated Covid wards of the hospital in the last 24 hours.
Twenty-nine other patients returned home from the Covid-19 unit after being cured during the same time period. Total number of patients admitted in the hospital stand at 192.
Yazdani said the infection rate has escalated in Rajshahi to some extent compared to the previous day.
A total of 247 people have been detected positive for Covid-19 after testing 276 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Thursday, showing a 2.22% positivity rate against 19.03% on Wednesday.
