10 Bangladeshis depart for UAE

A total of 10 passengers left Dhaka on the first day after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government's approval of six healthcare institutions to conduct Covid-19 tests for UAE-bound passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, A top AVSEC official said Emirates flight EK587 departed for Dubai with the Bangladeshi nationals at 7:30pm on Wednesday. 

Another Emirates flight (EK585) was scheduled to depart with 25 more passengers at 1:40am on Thursday, the official added.

Airport Health Official Dr Shahriar Sajjad said many Bangladeshi migrant workers had been notified about the approval of the testing facilities by the UAE. Those who completed the test were allowed to travel on the day.

On Tuesday, the UAE cleared the standard operating procedure of the rt-PCR tests at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

In early August, the UAE made it mandatory for passengers travelling to the country to carry Covid-19 negative certificates from rt-PCR tests taken within six hours of departure

On September 16, the Bangladesh government approved Stemz Health Care (BD) Ltd, CSBF Health Centre, AMZ Hospital, Anwar Khan Modern Medical College and Hospital, ZH Sikder Women's Medical College and Hospital, Gulshan Clinic Limited, and DMFR Molecular Lab & Diagnostics to conduct the Covid-19 tests at Dhaka airport.
