Go gluttonous with Goloso

Update : 23 Mar 2017, 03:34 PM
How did it all begin?Goloso started not more than a month ago and it was a spontaneous decision. I have been baking for many years but things were different when I got married and got my own kitchen. I started baking with my own equipments on a regular basis. My friends always used to encourage me to have a dessert shop but I never took that seriously. But one fine day while baking for my family, I seriously started considering it and thought - why not start an online bakery first? So one evening I simply opened a page on Facebook and started spreading the word of there being a bakery that serves unique desserts. My friends were my first customers to be honest. I have not started delivering the desserts yet, so customers mostly come to my house to pick up their orders, and slowly it all started to take off. Now I have almost two to three orders everyday. Was baking always your dream? My dream was to actually study culinary arts, but my parents did not think that was a good idea so that dream was never fulfilled. But I did not stop, rather I kept myself busy in the kitchen. I learned from YouTube and studied different books, and I taught myself the art of baking, of creating butter cream, frosting and all things related to baking and cooking. I still keep learning because I want to grow in this field. I am very passionate about baking especially. It is like mathematics for me, when you try to solve a problem for a very long time and end up with the right result – that is the satisfaction I get from baking. For all the bakers, baking is like science and it is like doing things in a chemistry lab. Baking is a dream which I want to build on. It has always been a passion for me.How has Tamim influenced your baking ambitions?I did not tell Tamim when I opened the page on Facebook. He was out of the country with the team and I kept thinking that I might not get any response at all and that it might be a failure. I had started the whole project anonymously and thought people will take it like any other Facebook page. But I was wrong and people responded well. After getting the responses on the page, I told Tamim about it. He was very supportive like he has always been. What are your signature dishes? The signature cake of Goloso is the Super Moist Chocolate Cake, and it is the most ordered cake from the menu. This has an interesting story behind it. Tamim does not like desserts much, he does not have a sweet tooth. But once on his birthday he requested me for a dark chocolate cake, which should be very chocolatey and have all kind of chocolate in it. So I tried to make something random and that turned out to be a good recipe – he loved it and even now whenever I make it, he loves to have a bite or two. So that is how Goloso got its signature cake. How can people order from you?People can reach out to the Goloso page on Facebook. The page has a number that you can call to place orders. One can also inbox the page itself with details, which is the best way to order. There are no other conditions. We are very flexible with the customers. The price range varies from order to order and that often needs to be discussed. For now, we encourage customers to pick up the order when it is a cake, but dry products like cookies or macaroons are often delivered by Goloso itself.Where do you want to take Goloso?I want to make Goloso very big, have a bigger menu and have my own kitchen (outside my home) one day. I personally like cakes which suit any occasion or can be eaten any time of the day/night. Fondant cakes are celebration cakes and I am not fond of those to be honest. I like baking old school desserts, and thus they are mostly offered at Goloso.
