Three must-sees at Krabi
Facing the Andaman Sea, the capital of the southern province of Thailand Krabi has been attracting more and more travellers from across the globe every year, thanks to its magnificent natural beauty. From crystal clear, blue waters and white sand beaches to mountains, jungles and lagoons, Krabi is the ultimate getaway destination. As November approaches, the six-month rainy season in the region is finally coming to an end, making it the ideal time to visit. Here are a few things you have to do in Krabi, although this is barely scratching the surface.

Settle in Ao Nang

Ao Nang is easily accessible, close to the town and is a great spot for everything - surrounded by cliffs and jungle, but with a lively atmosphere and great local restaurants and bars. A hub for tourists, accommodation is easy to find at an average rate of $17-30. We suggest using Agoda or Booking.com and doing your research first. Ao Nang has a lot of operators to choose from near the beach, who'll help you book your tours to the islands and offer a range of activities. If you're itching to start your adventures as soon as possible, opt for ziplining immediately. This action activity will get your adrenaline rushing and take you soaring over the jungle canopy. Hollow Mountain and Tree Top Adventure Park are the two most famous companies offering this.

Island hopping

There are over 200 islands in Krabi, so choose a good day to experience the world across the Andaman sea. The Phi Phi Island tour – where Danny Boyle'sThe Beach was shot - and the 4/7 Island Tour and Hong Island Tour are the three most popular, but there are several options to choose from, with either a long-boat or speed boat. And if you're all about enjoying the fancier things in life, hop onto the Sunset Cocktail Cruise, sip some drinks, make new friends and make sure you go for a night swim - the experience of a lifetime. All these trips will include snorkelling, food and an English speaking guide. All trips will have a fixed fee of 400baht, which everyone entering the National Park has to pay, while the prices of the trips vary accordingly, but you can always bargain.

Day trip to Railay Beach

Railay beach is a sure favourite for day trips. If you can bring together six people, it is only 100baht per person on a long-tail boat from Ao Nang. What makes Railay the most attractive beach in Krabi is the breathtaking view of limestone cliffs by the sea. Adventure lovers can hike up to the lagoon and enjoy the mesmerising view. The cliffs have lots of clinic roots, making it a heaven for rock climbers. For people who just want to relax and enjoy the blue ocean, there is always kayaking around the bay. Visitors can also head over to the Phra Nang cave. This spot holds fascinating wood carvings, making it a favourite among those wanting to discover the local culture.

How to get there?

By plane: It takes 1hr 20mins to get to Krabi by plane, and several flights are available from DMK – Don Muang Airport (Domestic airport); BKK – Suvarnnabhumi International Airport (International airport) throughout the day. By bus: Buses for Krabi leave from Bangkok's Sai Tai Bus Terminal (the southern bus terminal). Tickets are usually available at the counters until 7pm, and cost from 626-920 baht. The drawback here would be the amount of time it takes to reach Krabi, which approximately takes about 12-13hrs. But if you're travelling at night, time shouldn't be a factor.
