Things to do for good health and stronger faith 

There are a number of things that you can do during Ramadan in order to increase the strength of your faith and keep healthy. If you're on the lookout for what to do in the days of this holy month, here is a simple to-do list that will help solve your problem.

With the beginning of the first week of this month, it's time for us to get ourselves accustomed to our new routines. And, to make sure that you're making the most of Ramadan, we've listed our go-to tips for the first ten days of Ramadan – the days of Mercy.

Clear physical clutter

By decluttering your home during the first week, you'll be making room and learning to take in fewer things. Start by removing the clutter in your physical space, including your desk at home and work, your house or even your car. Clearing out stuff you haven’t used or even thought about for the past six months, or donating clothes that you haven’t worn in a year or more will make you feel at peace and calm. This can also make you feel re-energized to take up new challenges and resolutions this month.

Clear mental clutter

Decluttering your mind during the first week of this holy month can actually welcome more abundance in life. Why? Because that way, you'll create more space for better things. Just like cleansing your home, lightening your mental load to make time for things that are more important is equally essential. First and foremost, it's important to meditate or pray so that you can declutter your mind, at least for the time being. When a bad thought comes, try to fight it. Let go of any old grudges. And when a good thought comes, act upon it or at least write it down. Sometimes just the act of writing it all down can help us get rid of mental clutter.

Do some yoga

Ramadan is a month of introspection, devotion and self-discipline. Comprising 30 days of abstinence, it is important to keep your mind and body strong in this month. Yoga builds flexibility and strength, not just for the body, but also the mind, which is perfect for when you're fasting. Gentle stretching can help to speed up the elimination process of toxins, which can eventually help relieve migraines and fatigue. During Ramadan the best time for a little yoga is just before breaking your fast or 2 to 3 hours after Iftar.

Give in charity

When it comes to donating, it doesn't always have to be money. Perhaps you can go through your closets and donate used clothing. You may also spend some hours helping a local community organization. If you usually make your Zakat payments during Ramadan, do some calculations now to find out how much you need to pay.

Complete your banking chores

Stepping into the first week of Ramadan, try to keep track of how much money you've spent and where. This is actually the best time to keep your budget in check, so that you aren't in a crunch just before Eid. If you've over spent in any particular area, try and find out ways to cut back in other areas. With bank holidays set around the second week of next month, now is the time to get all your bank chores out of the way. Get it sorted now – be it making deposits and withdrawals or planning an Eid vacation so that you can get your travel expenses ready as well.
