Priyanka Dubey: investigating cases of social injustice

Currently working as a bilingual correspondent with the BBC in Delhi, she has written journalistic and nonfiction pieces about politics, culture, development, social justice, conflict, child rights, human trafficking and gender issues. 

In her decade-long reporting career, Dubey has worked for the Hindustan Times, the Tehelka and the Caravan Magazine; her work has also been published in Yahoo Originals and Scroll.in.

No Nation for Women

For her first nonfiction title No Nation for Women: Reportage on Rape from India, World’s Largest Democracy, which has been shortlisted for the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize 2019, Dubey spent six years traveling extensively in India to document cases of rape and sexual violence.

The book takes a hard, close look at what makes India unsafe for its women—from custodial rapes and honor killings to rapes of minors and trafficking—the author uncovers many unpalatable truths behind what we are familiar with as newspaper headlines only.
