La mode, the brainchild of Fahmida Islam, was established in July 2011, and launched on February 5, 2012 with the aim to give you the best footwear without exhausting your pockets.

Today, La mode is known for its style forward model and quality craftsmanship. Their selective items are produced by a group of youthful business visionaries. Every one of their items is hand-made in their own workshop.

This month, Avenue T sat down with Fahmida Islam from La mode to discuss the intricacies of footwear design.

Tell us something about La mode

La mode is a house of handcrafted designer footwear and handbags for ladies. After launching , we didn’t have to look back and it flourished into a trusted brand since with four outlets and a well equipped e-commerce website. Our main target is to give our clients the best and trendy pair at a reasonable price

You've done some noteworthy collaborations with a number of fashion bloggers. Do you think this marketing strategy helps you to cope in this saturated market?

For collaboration projects, our main motive is to engage our consumers with relatable stories. So, by doing a promotional campaign or a co-creation footwear line we tried to convey the message of how people can style our products in their day to day life. Also, in this saturated market, it helps a lot to promote our products in the right way. The more coverage it gets, the more people to get to know about our label.

How do you stay organized when provided with multiple design assets, files, and ideas in this busy and festive season?

I prioritize by weekly planning. Each Friday I plan my daily schedules for the coming week. This way I keep things in place. Also, my strong and amazing team of La mode always helps me to do things  the right way. And I always rely on them for suggestions.

Tell us about the inspiration for this Eid collection and the response you’ve received from your customers.

The theme is ‘summer festive glam’ this time. As minimal styles are huge at the moment, we tried to make designs that are very minimal with a hint of traditional touch and zardozi work. Also, we worked with block heels and wedges as per customer feedback. So far we have received a very good response with our festive collection.

Any tips for the readers of Avenue T on how to take care of their shoes?

I have always felt that only buying new shoes isn’t enough. Shoes also need proper care to make them last long. I personally take good care of my shoes and suggest the same to our clients. Always brush your shoes with a soft brush before storing them, use lots of silicon pouches inside your shoe cabinet to avoid damping.
