Staying in shape

Taking some time off can toss a lot of things out of daily routine -- including your diet and fitness regime. It is very common that the place you're exploring doesn't have the equipment you generally use for exercise. You're fortunate if a hotel has a few weights in their fitness center, and in case you're living in an Airbnb, it might come up short on any equipment whatsoever. Of course, you could discover a gym in your area and pay for a day pass, but that's not a very feasible option. Also, you're in the midst of a get-away -- taking a break from your daily routine is the main purpose. You have places to go and things to see. Fitting in a 60 minute workout won't be in your plan.

We, at Avenue T, know the struggle. Hence, we’re here to help, with a few tips and tricks to follow while travelling to maintain your fitness.

Try to stick to 3 - 4 meals a day

It's very common while travelling to neglect making the most of our 5-6 meals per day. It's okay, as we are on vacation. Be that as it may, you can attempt to have 3 to 4 meals per day, of proper portions, as you take on regular workout days. It will keep your metabolism buzzing, which is good for your daily fitness routine.

Heavy breakfast

Sounds like a ton of work, yet a big, fulfilling breakfast is what fuels your energy for the rest of the day and gets your digestion siphoning. Besides, more often than not, your hotel will include a good breakfast menu, so in case you're on a budget , you can opt for that.

Try to have yogurt

Yogurt is what helps “keep your tummy happy”; it regulates your digestive system and keeps you from having stomach issues or bloating. So even if you are busy exploring another country, don’t forget about your health. Treat yourself with at least one yogurt every day.

Drink lots of water

Everybody knows drinking a lot of water is healthy, so make sure you keep that up while you're travelling. It'll keep you full, hydrated, and away from drinking awful things like soda.

Have granola or protein bars

Keep your hunger under control and your digestion pumping by having a granola bar or protein bar in between meals.

Walk to stay fit while traveling

Do you truly need to take an Uber someplace five blocks away? No, you don't. Walk and burn some calories. Except if it's late at night, you have a hindering physical condition, or you're in an unsafe neighbourhood, there's no reason why you shouldn't almost certainly take a stroll rather than continually relying on a vehicle. Walking is, truly, the best work out.

Cheat and balance

You are on vacation and need to appreciate the beauty that is food, especially in a foreign land. It’s all right to “slip up” once in a while, and have that incredible cheat meal you can never truly forget. But you need to keep in mind that a cheat meal is limited to one meal, once in a while. Balance it out by eating healthy in your next meal. You could even skip the next meal, to keep your calorie intake level.

In case you really want to put some stress on your muscles, even on holiday, you can try some easy but effective exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, free squats, free lunges, crunches, leg raises, planks and so forth. These will help you maintain the regime you’re comfortable in, and also give you some peace of mind.

It's not that hard to keep your fitness intact or to have your weight loss process unaffected while travelling for a week or 10 days. The bottom line with your diet: Do your best, but don't sweat it too much. Once you get back home, simply go to the gym and back to your normal routine once again.
