Glamming up the groom

  • Published at 01:50 pm December 11th, 2019

Muze started out in 2017 as a passion project for the husband and wife duo -- Zayan Rivaan Bari and Mayeesha Rabbani.

Zayan noticed a lack of options for men’s accessories in the market and, being the fashion enthusiast that he is, decided to do something about it. And that is how Muze came into being, selling accessories like pocket squares, lapel pins, collar bars, and tie pins through social media. Due to the amazing response and success of their accessory line, they decided to open a studio in the capital’s Dhanmondi. Soon, Nehru jackets and panjabis were introduced to their store. Their accessories are also available at Dapper Bespoke at their Banani 12 atelier.

We spoke to the brains behind Muze to get more insight into what they stand for.

What is your most popular product?

Our most popular product, till date, is what we entered the market with -- pocket squares. In terms of design, there are a wide array of options to choose from for our clients; starting from the material to the pattern. From eclectic to subtle, we have prints to suit everyone’s needs. Our line of 100% linen panjabis are also very popular, specially for minimalistic looks.

What’s new at Muze this season?

This wedding season we are adding printed Nehru jackets to our festive wear collection, as well as pure silk panjabis. Our design approach is minimalistic, which is a breath of fresh air in the men’s ethnic festive wear market. We are also constantly bringing in new designs for our accessories line.

Why do you think men should take accessories more seriously?

Accessorizing is what sets you apart from the rest. You add your own personality to the outfit with your accessories. Everyone in the room can be wearing a navy suit with a white shirt, but it’s that intricately folded colours peeking out from your pocket or the unique handcrafted tie pin that will speak volumes about who you are. You also have to remember that less is more when it comes to accessorizing.

In your opinion, what is a fashion no-no?

Confidence is a big part of fashion and style, where you own the outfit, no matter how simple it might be, with your charm. As long as you wear something with confidence and a warm smile, you are good to go! Do note that it is big a fashion no-no to be overconfident.
