From Eid to weddings, henna is a big part of the celebration. This season, Avenue T brings you two very talented and versatile henna artists.
Al-Henna by Naina Fara
Naina Fara is someone who doesn’t just apply henna on the hands. She is also popular for her exquisite body henna art. “I never liked the idea of applying henna only on hands. I would make henna designs on my friends’ backs, necks, shoulders and legs,” says Naina. Her most requested body henna art is usually on the neck and the shoulder. Growing up, she would apply henna on her friends and family on any given occasion. Her hobby turned into her profession, and to this day, she can’t get enough of it.
Naina prefers going to the client’s home to apply the henna of their choice, as it is more comfortable for her clients, especially if it’s a bride. Even though bridal henna takes longer than normal henna designs, her fast application makes it less time consuming, and easier for the brides.
Her bridal packages start from Tk2,500 to Tk6,000, depending on the design. She has various different packages starting from Tk150 to Tk1,200, that cater to the bridesmaids and relatives of the bride. She also does henna for Eid, Pohela Boishakh, puja, and karvachauth. Al-Henna’s most popular designs are florals and peacocks.
Naina advices her clients to always prep the skin by moisturizing it before the henna application, and to be patient during the process for a better outcome. She also suggests using mustard oil after rubbing the henna paste off.

Henna Geek
Henna artist Tasnuba Mahreen has always been fascinated with henna art. She has been interested in arts and crafts from a very young age, and would often experiment with drawing henna patterns on her hand using markers. Ever since then, she hasn’t stopped making magic with henna.
