Valentine's Day recipes
Fancy dates and romantic plans can go either way, but few things provide the reliable satisfaction that a well-cooked meal can. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s with your SO, Galentine’s with your gal pals, Pohela Falgun with friends, or treating yourself because you know you deserve it, here are two satisfyingly meaty meals you can try.
What you'll need:
Beef chunks with fat
Carrots peeled and cut in chunks
Pearl shallots (tiny shallots whole )
Bay leaf
Dried thyme
Grape juice
Vinegar
Beef stock cube
Beef bacon (with fat)
Flour for singeing (or 2 teaspoons)
Process:
Sauté the carrot chunks and peeled shallots whole, and beef bacon diced in a heavy non stick pan without any oil. Remove the bacon and carrots and shallots after browning them. In the same pan, brown the beef with fat, until all the chunks are brown. This has to be obtained with high heat, and in case the beef starts to burn, add a few teaspoons of oil or butter. After browning add the flour and keep stirring. Add half a pint of grape juice and half a cup of vinegar. This acts as a substitute for wine, which is used in a more traditional bourguignon recipe. Add 1 or 2 bay leaves and two pinches of thyme. Crush beef cubes and sprinkle over the broth and add 2 cups of water.
Cover and let boil in medium heat.
After the liquid has reduced, add the carrots and shallots back in the pan and simmer. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Before serving add a bit of butter and lemon juice on top.
Best served with mashed potatoes.
When making this wing dish that's the attitude you need to have. Sass level to the max!
What you'll need:
At least 20 wings with skin
1 cup good honey
2 tablespoons crushed red chillies
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
Process:
There is no process! Wash and pat dry the chicken wings and marinade all the ingredients together in a zip-lock bag or bowl for one hour.
Hot pan and 2 tablespoons of oil. And sizzle away, wings!
These delicious treats are best had on their own.
