Melt-proof Eid make up
Before you know it, Eid is right around the corner. Your kameez has been fitted and your shoes and bags finalised. Some of us have been hitting the gym for a while now, ready to present our A game on Eid, looking as perfect as we'd like. Today I'd like to teach you a few expert tips and tricks to make sure your make-up lasts you all day, if not more. Truth be told, foundation and eyeshadow are two things that lasts just a few hours, unless tweaked by you. At some point it can't help but start melting. You and I both know how frustrating that can get. Here's my personal tips to prevent your face from having a mid-Eid meltdown. 1. Hydrate your skin One of the very first tips is to moisturise your face. Many of you might think that using moisturiser may oil up your face but trust me, it is a vital step you must take prior to going in with your foundation. It helps hydrate, cleanse and scrub off any excess dirt or grime. Choose a moisturiser that is suited for your skintype. Recommendation: Dior Hydra Action 2. Prime, prime and prime Using a primer before applying your make-up is an absolute must! It will not only help you hide all your pores, it will also allow your foundation to go on smoother, making it last longer. If you want your make-up to last longer, it's recommended you use a primer. Recommendation: Benefit's The POREfessional Face Primer (It's my personal favourite. Definitely a pricey primer, but totally worth the money). 3. Use the right foundation tools Just because it's Eid, please don't go overboard by layering your face with foundation because once the day goes by and you begin to sweat, you will end up hating the creasing and discolouration. Now that’s something you don't want to deal with midway through Eid. While choosing the right foundation shade goes without saying, you must also choose the right tool to apply your foundation to achieve that flawless look. Choose with any tool you are comfortable using. I would recommend using the original beauty blender or a stippling brush. Although I personally use the MAC stippling brush, you can use Real Technique's version which is just as good. Recommendation: Mac 187 Duo Fiber brush or Real Techniques Stippling Brush 4. Conceal like a pro Concealer? Oh yes! Don't be scared to use a concealer. I know many people in Bangladesh who are unsure about how to use concealer. If there's one make-up item you want to make your best friend, trust me ladies, you want it to be your concealer. It will help you get rid of all the noticeable imperfections on your skin. Fo example? Dark circles! Alongside using concealers you may also use colour correctors prior to your concealer. Once you are done blending your concealer, don't forget to apply powder. You can also bake with powder to avoid creasing. If you have redness on your skin use a green corrector and for darker areas around your eyes, nose and lips use an orange corrector. Recommendation: From high end brands you can try MAC colour correcting palette. My current favourite is Tarte Rainforest correcting palette. Cheaper alternatives can be found from NYX and ELF. 5. Brows: use both cream and powders Eyes and brows are two of my most favourite parts of the face to work on. I love well groomed natural eyebrows. To fill in your brows, you can use gel, pencil or brow wax. To make sure your brows remain groomed throughout Eid day, you will have to use both cream and powder on your brows to keep it in place for the day. Start filling out the outer part of the brows with the help of an angled brush using any cream brow product and then set it with a powder. Recommendation: Anastasia Beverlyhill's Dip Brow Pomade 6. Prime the eyes Before starting on your eye make-up you must prime your eyelids first. Primer will help it last longer and will make your eyeshadow colours look more vibrant. The primer will help prevent creasing on your eyelids as well. Personally I prefer something light on the eyes during day time and something bold in the evening. For eyeliner, go with your instinct. You can go for any kind of style: winged, luxe or bold - follow your heart and draw it out as you please. Be confident and you will be sure to pull it off! Also, if you want to make your eyes bigger put white eye pencil on your waterline. Finally, don't forget your mascara! 6. Pucker up with powder I know you all know your colours but try to follow the golden rule: opt for light lipstick with smokey eyes and a darker lips if you're sporting light eyes. To make it last longer dab on some baby powder on your top tip. Another trick is to dab a bit of highlighter on your matte lipstick if you are going for a dewy lip. 7. Set your make-up The final touch would include setting your make-up using a setting spray. Makeup comes with no rules at all. Wear make-up in a way you feel that you can pull off. It is very important to use the right tool or brushes to achieve that perfect look.
