Get the faux outta here
Gentlemen, first thing is first: our problems aren’t necessary their problems. When we say ‘they’, we mean the most stylish men and women of Europe. Think about it, what are the actual chances that you’ll be sporting fur in a climate like ours? Odds are very slim. We also live in a time where, people in general, are socially conscious about pretty much everything. And as terrible as it may sound there are plenty of items in the wardrobe that look incredibly flattering when there is fur thrown around here and there. Leather is another topic of discussion where certain people will opt out of, sticking to only organic materials or pure cotton varieties of clothing. The question is: how exactly do you pull off an attractive look without having to add fur and leather in the mix? Well, just don’t. Instead of donning faux-fur, as many will argue it simply isn’t authentic, just don’t wear it at all. There are many items that have quality wool incorporated into the latest collections. And if you want to keep the warmth around, there are always the many ways of layering, without compromising on your personal style. The Italian fashion god Giorgio Armani had actually vowed to never use fur products again, starting from his autumn/winter 2016 collection. He’s now on the list of leading designers of the world, like Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, who have decided to use synthetic alternatives in their collections. Leading the way, of course, is a notable anti-animal skin advocate Stella McCartney in the UK. At 81 years of age, Armani said, “Technological progress made over the years allows us to have valid alternatives at our disposal that render the use of cruel practices unnecessary as regards animals. Pursuing the positive process undertaken long ago, my company is now taking a major step ahead, reflecting our attention to the critical issues of protecting and caring for the environment and animals.” It should be to no surprise how leading designers are taking care of this issue, virtually, for you. So when you head off to your favourite menswear store, you should take comfort in knowing they are following the leading standards of both European and American standards. The beauty behind it all is the ability to be creative, while making money, can be shared with the world without having to harm animals in the process. Not only is it safe to wear and environment friendly, it challenges these genius designers in the stages of designing their latest runway brilliance. When you have a designer of Armani’s calibre championing the new change, gradually, the rest of the world will follow. It makes our lives easier when we want to upgrade our wardrobe of everyday use. Ultimately, products that include fur or other ridiculously expensive fabrics are luxury items. In other words, they are absolutely unnecessary. Apart from older gentlemen unwilling to let go of their 70s fantasies of becoming Tyrone or Guido the pimp, world famous celebs aren’t rocking furs and other luxury items in their everyday outfits. Men with our means never entertain the idea of wrapping ourselves with luxury products. Sure, as children, we wanted it all. In the latter stages of our lives, we don’t have time or the energy to seek the treasures of El Dorado. Stick to what you know, and gradually make the appropriate adjustments to your wardrobe, season by season.
