The former DU professor was suffering from different ailments
Reserved seat MP Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury, a Presidium member of Jatiya Party (JaPa), has passed away at a hospital in Dhaka. She was 70.
According to a media statement from JaPa, she passed away while undergoing treatment at BIRDEM General Hospital around 3:30am on Monday.
The former sociology professor at Dhaka University was suffering from various health issues. She is survived by a son and a daughter, along with many relatives and well-wishers.
The JaPa statement said a namaz-e-janaza will be held at the party’s Kakrail central office after the Asr prayers on Monday.
Chowdhury was elected to the 11th parliament from reserved seat No 45 as a JaPa candidate in 2019.
GM Quader, JaPa chairman and the deputy leader of opposition in parliament, opposition Chief Whip Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga and JaPa Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu mourned her death in separate messages.
Dhaka University Tourist Society (DUTS) also mourned the death of Chowdhury. The well-liked teacher had served as the organization’s adviser and moderator on different terms.
