Question paper leaks must be stopped before it’s too late

Recent years have taught us not to get surprised by the news of question papers being leaked before examinations. Whether questions are getting leaked in board exams or university admission tests, we have almost become inured to the issue due to its frequency in our country.

There is no doubt that the parties involved in leaking question papers and the people who actually buy them are both abominable. But whether they have any morality left in them is a question that is not our business to discuss, since these people will leave no stone unturned to pollute the environment of exam halls every year.

All we want to know is what the authority is doing to curb this issue. Well, we do know one thing they are not doing: They are not admitting that question papers do get leaked and some privileged people are accessing them through money or influence.

Instead, they are turning a blind eye and hiding in their bubble of denial either to save their reputation or mask their incompetence.

As to what impacts this issue will bring in the future is seriously a matter to brood over.

Indeed, it is frightening to think what will happen to our dear country if we constantly keep failing to prevent question papers from leaking.

Will these corrupt students, who have cheated in their exams and have no merit whatsoever, hold the reins of our country one day? It is simply unimaginable.

Yes, it is true that in this era where social media rules over our lives, it won’t be so easy to solve this problem.

But can’t the authorities start the process by admitting it first?

Surely, the first step to eradicating any problem is the admitting that the problem exists.

So, it is high time the authorities acknowledged the prevalence of this phenomenon and stopped misleading people.

Only then we can hope to do away with this by taking the proper steps and adopting necessary methods.
