After erasing all social media and website content, Radiohead gives its fans the bird by returning on the internet with a new track. However, instead of another distraught hymn warbled by frontman Thom Yorke, the band has released a literal birdsong, sung by an animated bird. While it feels like a troll, it’s actually a tantalizing tease.
Moreover, Radiohead registered a new company called Dawn Chorus, LLP in January, hinting that a new album was about to drop. The band did the same before releasing its two previous albums, creating a company called Xurbia Xendless Ltd. to distribute In Rainbows in 2007, and Ticker Tape Ltd. for 2011's The King of Limbs. The tease plays right into that expectation. It's a new day for Radiohead fans who can expect a new album to drop any time, and certainly before the band starts touring later this month.
