Bengal Foundation to organise Bengal Sangskriti Utsab in Sylhet

The Foundation is organising the festival as part of its continuous efforts to represent and preserve the historical flow of Bengali culture, as well as different aspects of contemporary life of the common people of this region. The 10-day festival will celebrate the diversity and beauty of Bengali culture through music, drama, dance, film show, among other activities. Kali o Kolom, the monthly literary magazine published by the Bengal Foundation will also join in the festival and hold a three-day literary conference. A number of 383 national artists, including musicians, dancers, painters, writers, poets will participate in the event. The participants include Rezwana Chowdhury Banya, Khairul Anam Shakil, Aditi Mohsin, Chandana Majumdar, Joler Gaan, and Kuddus Boyati. Famous Indian artist Haimanti Shukla, Srikanto Acharya, Jayati Chakraborty and Parboti Baul are also invited to sing at the event. A total of 27 painters, including Rafiqun Nabi, Rokeya Sultana, Shishir Bhattacharjee, will participate in the Subir Chowdhury Art Camp throughout the festival. A total number of 50 prominent national and international writers will also be present. Besides, 23 other writers from India and two from Nepal will join in at the literary fest. Among other activities, there will be a handicraft fair, which will represent famous handicrafts from 10 different districts of the country. Meghmollar, Anil Bagchir Ekdin, Runway, Titash Ekti Nodir Naam are some of the movies among the list of a total of 14 which have been scheduled to be shown throughout the festival. Four famous dramas will be staged along with the display of traditional food of Bangladesh. A book fair will also take place simultaneously throughout the event. The festival is scheduled to be inaugurated on February 22 by Finance Minister Dr Abul Maal Abdul Muhit. The whole festival is dedicated to the memory of the late national professor Gyantaposh Abdur Razzak. Bengal Sangskritik Utsab is presented by Index Group in association with Dhaka Bank Ltd. Channel-i is the broadcast partner for the festival.
