Dwij Kanai’s ever green Mahua is now on the silver screen. With Rowshan Ara Nipa’s script and direction, sensational Dhallywood actor Porimoni, who is also a co-producer of Mahua Sundori, stars as the lead character of the film.
Based on a folktale Mymensingh Geetika, the story of Mahua Sundori revolves around a theatre troupe, where Chobi (Porimoni) always is the centre of attraction for the audience. An expatriate named Sumit falls in love with Chobi depicting Mahua in their drama, while enjoying one of the troupe’s shows. Sumit approaches the diva and tells her about his feelings for her. The actress starts hanging out with the ‘Miyar Beta’ and takes financial favour in exchange. But in course of events, the duo falls in love with each other and the story takes an unexpected turn.The government grant awarded film also has Sumit, Joyraj, Sadek Bacchu, Suchorita, Saju, Hafiz, Mamunur Rashid in its cast. Mahua Sundori was released on small screen and aired on Channel i on Thursday. Legendary singer Runa Laila has lent her voice to a playback song for the feature film.
