
Featuring the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, U2, Sir Elton John and Adele, the Sunday Times Rich List has revealed the wealthiest names in the music industry in 2017.
The full list of hundred of the wealthiest people in the UK will be published on Sunday, however an initial list of the top 20 millionaires in music tells us who has made the most money over the last year.
Sir Paul McCartney, the former Beatle turned solo icon, tops the list with £780million, and ranks above the likes of Andrew Lloyd-Webber, U2, Elton John and Mick Jagger.
Lord Lloyd Webber, an English composer and impresario of musical theatre, and the Irish band U2 make up the top three. Bono and company saw the biggest rise in the last year of all of the top 20 musicians, with their net worth of £548 million being topped up by £48 million from last year.
Adele came out as the richest under-30 musician in the UK and the only female in the top 20. The 28-year-old London based singer’s income increased by a massive £40million over the last year thanks to the sales of her record-breaking album 25 and subsequent world tours.
The rest of the list is populated by luminaries such as Elton John, Sting, Roger Waters, Rod Stewart, Tom Jones and the members of the Rolling Stones.
