An official trailer for Blade Runner 2049 was released on Monday, and it’s every bit as striking, haunting and exhilarating as the previous installment.
In the long-awaited sequel which is set 35 years after the world was introduced to the bleak, over-crowded dystopia of Blade Runner’s futuristic Los Angeles, the audience will get the chance to see how much the bustling yet dying metropolis has changed throughout the years.
Ryan Gosling plays the lead role in the sequel, as an LAPD officer tasked with hunting down rogue “replicants” aka cyborgs which are nearly indistinguishable from humans, who have escaped and are threatening public safety.
Gosling crosses paths with Harrison Ford, who reprises his role as Rick Deckard who now lives holed up in an abandoned building.
Ridley Scott, who also directed the original, has produced the film while Dennis Villeneuve, who was nominated for an Oscar last year for his film Arrival, directed the deep and labyrinthine world of the Blade Runner 2049.
Blade Runner 2049 slated to hit theaters on October 6, this year.
